Home Remedy for Eruptions of Deep Cyst Acne

Cystic acne is one of the most severe forms of acne vulgaris, and can make the skin feel sore and inflamed. Deep cysts can be as large as a quarter and can stay on the skin for months if left untreated. Sometimes using commercial acne medications can be too harsh for inflamed cystic acne, and can exacerbate the condition. Instead, natural home remedies can be used which will clear cystic acne without making it worse.

Deep Clean With Castor Oil

Castor oil is highly purgative and non-comedogenic, which is ideal for clearing out the pores without re-clogging them. Cleansing the skin with oil allows the trapped oil inside the pores to bond with the oil applied to the skin, which releases the entrapment easier than soaps. Spread 1 tbsp. of castor oil on the skin that is affected with acne cysts, and massage it in deeply for two minutes. Place a hot, steaming washcloth onto the skin and allow the steam to open up the pores and release the oils and impurities. Once the cloth cools, wipe off the oil with the washcloth. Repeat this process twice a day; once in the morning and again in the evening.

Remove Dead Skin with Baking Soda

Baking soda is an exfoliating and highly alkaline substance which can be massaged onto the skin without scratching or damaging it. Baking soda also kills acne-causing bacteria, helping to not only remove dead skin cells, but to prevent new acne from forming under the skin. Mix 1 tbsp. of baking soda with a drizzle of water until a loose paste is formed, and massage the paste onto wet skin. Use a gentle touch, moving the fingers in a circular pattern, and focus on the areas that contain the acne cysts. After two minutes, rinse the skin well with water. Use a baking soda scrub once per day.

Increase Cell Turnover With Lemon Juice

After the dead skin cells have been removed, the skin can be toned with an acidic juice, which contains high amounts of acid and Vitamin C. The acid will balance out the pH on the skin, helping to regulate the oil production, and the Vitamin C will help increase the skin cell turnover. This helps the skin produce new skin cells, and improves the skin's ability to slough off dead skin as well. Pour concentrated lemon juice into a clean spray bottle, and spray the face thoroughly after it has been cleansed and scrubbed. Let the juice dry onto the skin, and repeat every time the baking soda scrub is used.
