Flax Seed vs. Hemp Powder

Flaxseed and hemp powder are used as dietary additives. Both can be added to foods or beverages to provide health and nutritional benefits.


Flaxseed is commonly used to improve and stimulate digestive regularity as a laxative. Flaxseed is rich in fiber and beneficial in reducing cholesterol and so-called “bad” low-density lipoproteins associated with high blood pressure and heart diseases.

Hemp Powder

Hemp powder is rich in protein and essential fatty acids that produce proteins to aid in strengthening muscles. Contrary to some beliefs, while hemp powder is derived from the Cannabis plant it is not psychoactive and is unlike the smokeable marijuana hemp plant that contains Tetrahydrocannabinol and produces a “high.”


Both flaxseed and hemp powder are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Each can be added to hot or cold cereals, yogurt or baked goods for dietary enrichment purposes.


Hemp powder is rich in protein and derived from the cannabis plant (Cannabis Sativa L). Flaxseed is rich in fiber and has the Latin name of Linum usitatissimum, which means “most useful.”
