The Flavorwave is a portable, countertop cooking appliance sold by Thane Housewares. The oven is round and no larger than a standard microwave. The Flavorwave uses halogen heat, infrared waves and convection cooking to seal in juices and cook food faster than conventional means with a more flavorful end result, according to the manufacturer. The Flavorwave is capable of cooking all sorts of different foods, including a full roast.
Trim the visible fat off a 1- to 2-pound bottom round, beef blade or rump roast. Some will be labeled as pot roast.
Slice the carrots into 1-inch sections, slice the onion and mince the garlic. Peel and slice the potato into ¼-inch slices.
Place the roast, all of the vegetables, spaghetti sauce and red wine into one of the plastic cooking bags. Secure the opening with one of the ties, leaving an opening the size of the tip of your thumb.
Set the bag into the oven on the 1-inch rack. Press “Cook Time” and then set the time for 45 minutes. Close the lid and press the “Start” button. The temperature will be 400 degrees Fahrenheit by default.
Open the lid when the 45 minutes is up, and then turn the bag over and cook for 30 minutes longer, until the roast is tender. The internal temperature should read 145 degrees Fahrenheit for medium-rare and 160 degrees for medium.
