Ball Park has made dogs for over 50 years, and you can't go wrong with a Ball Park frank on a hot summer day. Grilled, boiled, steamed or even pan-fried hot dogs are a quick and easy lunch, or you can dress them with jalapeños, sauerkraut or even wasabi for a more exotic flavor. The most beautiful part about cooking hot dogs, however, is that they are fast and simple to prepare and even your pickiest child will eat every bite.
Grilled Hot Dogs
Set the grill to high heat and start it. Close the lid and allow the grill to warm up for five minutes.
Place the hot dogs on the grill so they are perpendicular to the grill grates. This will produce the charcoal cross-hatching pattern that is so attractive on hot dogs.
Place the hot dog buns on a higher grill rack to warm or place them on the edges of the grill to warm.
Grill the hot dogs, uncovered, for three minutes, then turn them and grill them for three minutes on the other side.
Take the hot dogs and buns off the grill and place a hot dog in each bun. Top with ketchup, mustard and the toppings of your choice.
Boiled Hot Dogs
Fill a saucepan halfway through with water and bring the water to a boil over high heat.
Place the Ball Park franks in the water and turn the heat down to medium.
Cook the hot dogs for three minutes, turning them with the tongs occasionally to make sure the hot dogs cook evenly.
Remove the Ball Park franks from the water and place them in a colander in the sink to drain for one minute.
Place the hot dogs on the buns and top them with ketchup, mustard and your favorite toppings.
Steamed Hot Dogs
Fill a saucepan halfway with water and heat it on high on your stovetop. If you have an electric steamer, check the manufacturer's instructions for directions on how to use your steamer because different models may not work the same way. Generally you will fill the bottom with water and turn the steamer on. If the steamer has settings, select "High."
Place the mesh or bamboo steamer over the boiling water and place the hot dogs in the steamer. For an electric steamer, place the hot dogs on the steaming tray and insert it into the steamer.
Place the lid on the steamer and allow the hot dog to steam for three minutes. After three minutes, remove the lid and take the hot dogs out with the tongs.
Place the hot dogs on the buns and top them with ketchup, mustard and your favorite toppings.
Pan-Fried Hotdogs
Heat two tablespoons of vegetable oil in a skillet over high heat.
Place the hot dogs in the skillet and cook them for two minutes, turning them occasionally to ensure that they cook evenly.
Remove the hot dogs from the skillet with your tongs and place them in the buns. Serve hot with ketchup, mustard and the toppings of your choice.
