Dieting can be a miserable experience, partly because it means doing without foods you love, and partly because counting carbs or calories takes a lot of time and effort. One of the reasons Weight Watchers has been so successful over its 50-plus years is that its approach to weight loss is simple and low-fuss: All you have to do is count points.
The basic concept is simple. Foods that are good for you, such as fruits, vegetables and lean meats, have low or no points. Foods that are bad for you have more points. You'll have a daily points total based on age, gender, height and other factors, adding up to at least 30 SmartPoints. You can even earn extra points by working out, and you'll get 28 or more “flex points” each week to use for treats to reward yourself.
