When you're told to avoid salt, it may seem as if the days of enjoying savory foods are over. But they don't have to be. You can preserve your health without compromising on flavor by blending your own salt substitute. Use it in recipes to impart plenty of seasoning, or spice up foods right at the table.

Measure the spices and put them into a small bowl.

Stir with a fork to mix the seasonings well.

Use your funnel and pour the mixture into a saltshaker. Be sure to label it if the container isn't transparent.

Store in a cool, dry place away from light. The spice mix will keep for months.

  • Check the ingredients on the spice bottles to be sure they are pure, with no added salt.
