Gaggia coffee machines require regular cleaning and maintenance to ensure they continue to function properly. One of the most common problems that can affect Gaggia coffee machines is a build-up of limescale, which can both permanently damage the equipment and impair the taste of coffee. Malfunction due to limescale accumulation is not covered under the Gaggia warranty, so it is worth taking the time and effort to regularly descale your machine. Fortunately, descaling a Gaggia coffee machine is an easy task that can be achieved by following a few simple steps.

Dissolve approximately 30g of Gaggia Descaler in 1.5 litres of water.

Make sure your Gaggia coffee machine is switched off and remove the water tank cover.

Pour the descaler solution into the water tank.

Turn on your Gaggia coffee machine and switch on the pump for approximately 15 seconds to allow the solution to run through the brewing head and steam nozzle.

Switch off your Gaggia coffee machine and leave for 20 minutes to allow the solution to work.

Turn the machine back on and switch on the pump again until all the solution has run through.

Rinse the machine by refilling the water tank with cold water and repeating the previous step.
