Eyebrows are a very noticeable part of a woman's or man's facial appearance. Eyebrows can be plucked, waxed or shaved to complement facial features. It is important not to get too tweezer happy and make them too thin. They can and will grow back; however, it is not an easy or quick process.
Most eyebrows are not perfectly shaped and thin. In fact, many are bushy, misshapen, too straight or even connected by a unibrow. To get a desired or shaped look, it is best to use a pair of tweezers. Pluck out stray hairs on the top and bottom, shaping the brow in the process. Pluck the hairs in the direction they grow, but do not pluck too many at a time. Take a moment and stop every few hairs to examine your progress.
At least once in your life, you may get tweezer happy and pluck your eyebrows too thin. Eyebrow hair is not like leg hair. It will not grow back in a matter of days. The process can take anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks. It is very important to put the tweezers away during this period and let the eyebrows grow. The hair follicles are slow to come around.
To make eyebrows that are too thin appear fuller, you should purchase an eyebrow pencil. Any drug store will have them. Purchase a pencil color that closely matches the natural color of your eyebrows, maybe even a shade lighter so the pencil will blend in. Lightly and gently fill in any open patches or odd shapes the plucked eyebrow may have. Use a finger to smudge in the pencil. This will help the eyebrow to appear more natural.
There are many creative ways to enhance other features when waiting for eyebrows to grow back. For instance, make use of different hairstyles. Medium to long bangs are a great trick to cover up the brows. Glasses are also a great way to distract from your brows. Hats are another good option.
There are also products on the market designed to re-grow eyebrow hair. Most contain a specific amount of protein targeted to enhance hair growth. LiBrow is one example that can be purchased online for under $100. Overplucked brows will benefit from brushing the gel on patchy areas.
The most important thing to know is that eyebrows will grow back if they are plucked, but your must be patient because it will take time. According to Bobbi Brown in the book Bobbi Brown Beauty, "a well-groomed, well-defined brow can be extremely flattering and add considerable strength to a woman's eyes." Eyebrows are easily one of the most important defining features on a face.
