The bridesmaids, best friend or a close family member typically hosts the bridal shower. During the bridal shower, you will need plenty of fun activities to keep the guests engaged throughout the event. Besides beach-themed decorations, opt for beach-related bridal showers. In addition, you can locate functional and practical beach-themed gifts to present to the bride and winners.
Volleyball and Sandcastle Games
Have your bridal shower guests play beach volleyball or build sandcastles. You can award prizes to the best player, or whomever the most scored points during the volleyball games. Prizes or awards you can give the guest participating in building sandcastles include beach mats, sunblock, beach mats or moisturizing lip balm.
Memory Beach Game
Start the bridal shower with a beach memory game. Choose approximately 15 to 20 beach-related items people must have on a beach, such as a beach towel, sunglasses, shade umbrellas, beach ball, lounge mat, sunscreen and lip balm. Place the new items on a table and cover with a tablecloth. Many items are available at a local dollar store. Hand each guest a piece of paper and allow the guests to view the beach-related items on the table for approximately two minutes. The person that writes down the most items seen on the table wins a prize. In addition, the bride-to-be receives every beach-related item on the table.
Pass the Beach Parcel
Choose a beach-related gift and wrap it in several layers of colored paper to correspond with the number of guests. Play music; while the guests are sitting, pass the parcel to the next person. The person holding the gift when the music stops gets to unwrap a layer of the gift-wrapping. The person who holds the gift with the last layer of wrapping paper gets to keep the gift. Some beach theme gifts include a certificate to a local resort or hotel with swimming pool, flip-flops or foot care lotions.
Name that Tune
Play a variety of beach-theme music. Have the guests guess the name of a song that is playing at the venue. The person who guesses first with the correct title receives a prize. Some beach-theme music includes Otis Redding’s “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay,” The Beach Boys’ “Good Vibrations,” Bob Marley’s “Stir it Up,” Jimmy Buffett’s “Margaretville” and Shaggy’s “In the Summertime.”
