Calories in Ranch Dressing

Ranch dressing is loaded with calories, and many salads are swimming in it. If you choose ranch dressing, limit your serving to one or two tbsp. If you're dining at a restaurant, ask for dressing on the side.

Types

Two tbsp. of regular ranch dressing contain 145 calories, according to CalorieKing. Ranch dressing also comes in light and fat-free versions. Light, reduced-fat ranch dressing has 66 calories per two tbsp. Fat-free ranch dressing has 33 calories in two tbsp.

Comparison

Choose low-calorie or low-fat dressings instead of regular ranch. An average vinaigrette has only 100 calories per two tbsp., according to MSNBC. You can also use oil and vinegar, although you should limit olive oil if you're watching calories.

Tips

Many restaurant salads are high in calories. Try making your own. Limit high-calorie toppings like bacon, blue cheese, eggs and sunflower seeds. Add plenty of vegetables and leafy greens. Nutritionist Joy Bauer recommends steering clear of veggies drenched in marinades, sauces or mayonnaise.
