How to Make Blueberry Popcorn

Popcorn is a hugely popular snack food, and many fans prefer the gourmet varieties. Commercial specialty popcorn is pricey. This yummy gourmet blueberry popcorn can be made quickly and easily. It’s unusual, delightful and fancy enough to please even the fussiest guest.

Chop the blueberries and set them aside.

Melt the butter or margarine and the blueberry jam in a heavy saucepan over moderate heat. Add the sugar and stir to blend well. A syrup will form as the mixture cooks.

Continue to cook the blueberry mixture over moderate heat, stirring constantly, until it reaches 235 degrees on the candy thermometer. Turn the heat down to low.

Prepare the popcorn according to the packaging instructions at once. Do not add any butter or salt to it. Pour it into a large mixing bowl. Fold in the chopped blueberries. Work as quickly as you can so that the blueberry syrup doesn’t cool much.

Slowly pour the blueberry syrup over the popcorn and chopped berries. Toss everything together gently until the popcorn and the berries are coated with the syrup. Serve immediately.
