Tattoos are a form of self-expression. You got a tattoo because it represented your personality. But you've changed -- and the tattoo remains, and it is just not appealing to you anymore. Tattoo removal by a professional can cost a lot of money, but you can fade a tattoo at home and save a few bucks.

Apply hydrogen peroxide to your tattoo daily with a cotton swab. Hydrogen peroxide will lighten and fade your tattoo. Ask your tattoo artist to use hydrogen peroxide to tattoo over the area you want faded. The tattoo artist will use hydrogen peroxide instead of tattoo ink. This works better than dabbing hydrogen peroxide on the tattoo yourself.

Purchase an ointment designed to remove and fade tattoos. Apply the ointment daily to the tattoo. Try ointments such as Tat B Gone and Wrecking Balm.

Make a rub with hydrogen peroxide and sea salt. Vigorously scrub your tattoo with a wash cloth and the sea salt mixture. Do this several times a week for best results.

Use a skin peeling product like TCA. This process works by breaking the ink up and moving it to the surface of the skin to allow new skin to grow underneath. Apply this product using a cotton swab. Refer to the package for complete instructions.
