Pimples on legs may be just as common as pimples on the face. However, because many times your legs are covered, it's not as noticeable. Then along comes warmer weather, and suddenly it starts to be an issue. Pimples have a variety of causes, and different treatments are effective, depending on how severe the problem is.
Recognize that the primary reason you develop pimples is hormone fluctuation. This is why teenagers have so many problems with their skin. Other factors can include your diet, stress, perspiration and your use of heavy cosmetics or lotions that clog your pores. Additionally, heredity plays a role.
Wash your legs right after working out or any other activity that causes you to sweat. Allowing sweat to dry on the skin can encourage the growth of bacteria, which contributes to your acne problem. Use a quality acne wash with benzoyl peroxide to kill bacteria and clear pores, but do not scrub.
Avoid stress, another cause of acne. Do something that relaxes you, such as a meditation, massage, yoga or music.
Eat more natural foods and fewer processed ones. Drink more water and eat fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, whole grains and lean meat or fish. Making poor choices in your diet can affect your hormones, triggering an outbreak of acne.
Establish a good daily skin regimen. If you have tried acne products such as Stridex, Noxema and Clearasil with little success, try some new ones, such as Oxycerin, Acnexus or Bruunhause. Although these last three products are more expensive than the others mentioned, they may be effective in treating your acne.
