Recognized Benefits

Hot oil treatments containing essential oils such as jojoba, olive and coconut are most commonly used on hair to treat damage and dryness by penetrating the hair shaft and deeply conditioning. Many hot oil package directions state to use the treatment once a week to achieve optimal results.

Hair Damage Varies

Every hair type and damage level is different so an individual may choose to use a hot oil treatment two or three times a week if the hair is extremely fragile and prone to breakage. Treating hair with hot oil once per week may not be enough in certain instances.

Bottom Line

Start out by applying a hot oil treatment once per week and if dryness and damage have not been lessened, up the application to twice per week and adjust accordingly.
