As you may already know, dousing apple slices in lemon juice will prevent them from browning for a long time. However, you might not realize that lemon juice will preserve your healthy treat for up to one week.
Prepare for Storage
Keep apples in the refrigerator until ready to cut them. Place the slices in a bowl of cool water until you're finished cutting the apple. Individually apply the lemon juice to each slice to prevent browning.
Lasts One Week
The apple slices are good for up to one week after preparation. Store them in airtight containers inside your refrigerator until ready to serve. Apples left out for more than a week may start to rot.
A Different Taste
Rinse the lemon juice from the apple slices if they become too sour from soaking in the citrus. However, you may enjoy the combination of crisp, naturally preserved fruit and the new tangy flavor.
