What Is a Good Color Shirt to Match With Light Mint Pants?

Black trousers or a pair of jeans are easy to match with blouses. A pair of light mint-green pants, on the other hand, is less of a sure thing. Surprisingly, mint bottoms can be worn with a wide range of shirts, provided the look is tied together with strategic footwear and accessories. Throw open your closet door and take a second look – mint’s perfect pairing is closer than you think.

Nice in Neutrals

The most understated way to rock your light mint-green pants is with a neutral top. Keep the ensemble light and airy with basic white, ivory or beige, or infuse a little edge with a gray or black shirt. For a casual, urban look, pair mint skinny jeans with a black tank, a long gold medallion necklace and moto-style black leather boots. Or go professional with mint-green pants and a white sheer blouse over a matching camisole. Add metallic hoop earrings, and finish the look with a neutral belt and tan pumps.

Playful Prints

Any number of printed tops look stylish with light mint-green pants. Pick a flowing, patterned blouse that weaves colors like tangerine, yellow and mint in a pretty print, or try a basic navy-and-white-striped tee to offset mint skinnies. For a more daring approach, pair an animal-print cap-sleeve blouse – think cognac-and-black leopard – with light mint jeans, black ballet flats and mixed-metal bangles.

Color on Color

Don’t shy away from donning a colored top just because your bottoms are a pastel hue. To keep the look soft, wear light mint-green pants with a baby-pink boyfriend T-shirt; tie the ensemble together with a multicolored gauzy scarf and neutral canvas slip-on shoes. Or make a statement with a cobalt-blue tie-front blouse, cognac leather wedges and colorful, chunky jewelry in complementary tones.

Delightful Denim

Denim and chambray shirts in a variety of washes are offset beautifully by colored pants. Wear your light mint skinnies with a white tank or tee, topped with a dark-rinse denim button-down. Leave the shirt open and roll up the sleeves for a jacket feel, and add a statement necklace to tie the look together. You can also tuck a faded chambray shirt into mint-green bottoms, adding a distressed leather belt and brown or black boots for a more rugged feel. Complete the look with an oversized ring and western-inspired brushed-metal jewelry.
