Facts on Bubblicious Gum

Bubblicious gum is known for its blocky shape and its sugary-sweet taste. It is the second-biggest bubblegum company in the world, after Wrigley. It is often sold at gas stations and convenience stores. Bubblicious comes in larger portions than other gum and it's softer, making it ideal for blowing large bubbles. The company's website includes includes games, screensavers and wallpaper aimed at young customers.


Bubblicious comes in 12 flavors, two of which are "bubble bursts." Bubble bursts have a sugary liquid at the center of the gum, which bursts when it's chewed. Bursts are circular compared to the classic block shape. The flavors of the regular gum are Bubble Gum, Carnival Cotton Candy, Lebron's Lightning Lemonade, Twisted Tornado, Paradise Punch, Blue Blowout, Savage Sour Apple, Gonzo Grape, Strawberry Splash, and Watermelon Wave. The bursts come in Sour Cherry Storm and Thundering Bubblegum.


The ingredients are mostly the same from one flavor to another. The main ingredients are sugar, corn syrup, and gum base. Bubblicious also contains glycerin, and the package doesn't state whether the glycerin is animal-derived, which is important for vegetarians to know. The products also contain natural and artificial flavoring, plus BHT as a preservative.


Bubblicious is owned by Cadbury Schweppes from the United Kingdom, which bought Bubblicious' parent company Adams Confections in 2002 from the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer. Cadbury paid $4.2 billion for the company, which some analysts said was too much. Adams also owns the chewing gum brand Dentyne. The purchase of Bubblicious and its sister companies helped Cadbury gain "access to new geographies," Cadbury's chief executive officer said at the time.

LeBron James Sponsorship

Bubblicious signed a deal with National Basketball Association star LeBron James in 2004 for him to endorse the product and add his name to a special gum flavor, Lebron's Lightning Lemonade. It was the first time that the company sponsored an individual athlete, though it had before sponsored NBA teams and Little League baseball. James' agent Eric Goodwin suggested that the sponsorship was made because of the player's enjoyment of the gum.
