Dandruff, also called seborrheic dermatitis or seborrhea, can cause flaky, itchy, white or yellowish skin on oily patches on the head, as well as other parts of your child’s body. Although researchers have yet to designate a specific cause for this condition, it is believed that an overproduction of skin oil; a yeast called malassezia; cold, dry air; under- or over-washing of the hair; and other skin issues may be the main contributing factors. Luckily you can get an over-the-counter dandruff shampoo to help your child alleviate his dandruff symptoms.
