Your party dress is a dream, but cleaning it can be a nightmare if you aren't familiar with tulle fabrics. Tulle is an attractive and lightweight material frequently used in party and wedding attire. Keeping it in good repair can be difficult to accomplish without causing permanent damage to the delicate material. Although you can machine wash tulle, hand-washing is the safest method to keep your dress in good condition and ready to be worn to many more parties.

Step 1

Fill a tub or washbasin with warm water. Use water that is approximately 85 degrees Fahrenheit for optimum results.

Step 2

Add 1 tablespoon of liquid laundry detergent to the bath and stir it with your hands until it is well mixed. Use a mild detergent when cleaning tulle garments -- tulle is delicate and easily damaged.

Step 3

Gently hand wash the dress for five to 10 minutes, taking extra care to not stretch or tear the material in the process. Let the dress soak for an additional 10 to 20 minutes.

Step 4

Drain the tub and carefully squeeze out the excess water from the garment. Rinse out the tub and refill it with cold water. Rinse the entire dress by wafting water through it rapidly to remove the residual detergent.

Step 5

Squeeze the excess water from the garment and tumble dry on low or no heat in the dryer or hang it to air dry.
