Static cling can be a major annoyance when you are getting dressed to go out. Head off static cling before your jacket ends up in the closet, but if you can't, there are ways to get rid of it. Don't let a jacket with static ruin your entire day. Static cling doesn't have to be a daily bother or an issue.
Toss your jacket in the dryer with a dryer sheet. Dryer sheets can help eliminate static cling. This can be done with a wet or dry jacket. If it is wet, dry as your normally would. For a dry jacket, leave it drying for 10 minutes or so to get the benefits of the dryer sheet.
Put body lotion on the body parts your jacket will be touching before you put your jacket on. A fresh coat of body lotion can help give your clothes more movement on your skin and get rid of static cling.
Mix a small cap full of fabric softener with water in a plastic spray bottle. Pour the fabric softener into the cap up to the first line. Pour this amount into the bottle and fill the rest with water. Shake it up, and spray the mixture on to your jacket. Use a light amount of the fabric softener mixture.
Spray hairspray on to your jacket. Spray your garment lightly with any kind of hairspray to eliminate static cling on your jacket. Hold your arm out while holding the garment so the jacket only receives a light mist of the hairspray. If it gets too saturated it will make the material stiff. Alternately, squirt some hairspray into your palms and rub them inside the jacket.
