How to Make Lamb Stew

If you like trying new recipes, try making a homemade lamb stew. Lamb stew is the perfect comfort food to combine vegetables with the hearty taste of lamb meat. This stew recipe does not require a lot of work because the meal is primarily made in a crock pot, so the meal pretty much prepares itself. Try this simple recipe and you will have a new family favorite before you know it.

Fill a large skillet with 2 tbsp. canola oil. Heat the stove top to medium-high setting.

Sprinkle 1/2 tsp. sugar on the surface of a 2 to 3 lbs. lamb.

Use a pair of tongs to place the lamb in the skillet.

Allow the lamb to brown on each side. This process should take just two minutes per side.

Use the tongs to remove the lamb from the skillet and place the lamb into a large slow cooker. Leave the drippings from the lamb in the skillet.

Pour 1/4 cup flour, 2 tsp. salt, and 2 tsp. black pepper into the skillet with the lamb drippings.

Add 1 cup red cooking wine and 2 cups water to the skillet. Use a mixing spoon to blend the ingredients. Continue stirring until the mixture thickens.

Pour the mixture into the slow cooker.

Add the remaining ingredients to the slow cooker and use a mixing spoon to mix the ingredients.

Place the lid on the slow cooker and cook on a low setting for nine to 10 hours.

Tips

  • Other vegetables can be added to personalize the stew to your liking.
