Items you will need
- Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Yellow or white onion
- Green pepper
- Red pepper
- White or wheat sub rolls
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
- Garlic salt
Just like Philly cheese steak sandwiches, chicken Philly sandwiches are served on long rolls with piles of green peppers, onions and cheese. But, you can incorporate or remove ingredients to make something new and personal.
Dice the chicken into small cubes. Fry them in a small amount of olive oil in a large frying pan. Sprinkle a little garlic salt on chicken and brown on all sides. This should take approximately 4 to 5 minutes per side. Cook the chicken until it's done.
Slice the onion and peppers. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan. Fry the vegetables in the oil until they are golden brown. Add them to the chicken and cook the ingredients together for a few minutes over medium heat.
Transfer the chicken and vegetable mixture to a small pan. Turn the stove on medium heat and sprinkle mozzarella cheese over it.
Spread mayonnaise on the sub roll. Using a spatula, transfer the combined ingredients into the sub roll. Press the sandwich together.
You can substitute the mozzarella cheese with any slice of cheese you like or skip the cheese altogether.
