How to Get Rid of Underarm Shadow

Most women do not like to have hair under their arms and therefore remove it by shaving or some other method. The hair, if it is dark, may still be visible under the skin and cause a dark shadow, which is frustrating if you are wearing a sleeveless top. The dark shadow may be even more visible as the day goes on and the hair grows back. There are methods that can decrease and get rid of your underarm shadow.

Choices

Shave your underarms twice a day. Use a shaving cream and a very sharp razor designed for a close shave. Shaving twice a day may help rid you of your shadow problem, but it is not the most effective for some women because the hair is cut off at the surface of the skin, and the stubble may still be visible.

Wax your underarm hair. This method is more effective than shaving for most women. Waxing pulls the hair out by the root, and it will not grow back for a couple of weeks. The stubble will not be visible under the skin for at least a few days. This method can be painful, so it is best to have it done in a salon.

Use a hair bleach to remove your underarm hair. Shave your armpits as normal. Apply the hair bleach as directed on the container to the remaining hair stubble. This method lightens the hair down to the surface of the skin.

Permanently remove your underarm hair through laser hair removal. This procedure is very effective on coarse, dark underarm hair. See a dermatologist or a qualified salon professional for the treatment. The technician will move a wand up and down your armpit, and a small laser will heat up the hair follicle and destroy it.

Have electrolysis done to permanently remove your underarm hair. This procedure is more effective on light-colored hair than on dark hair follicles. Electrolysis is more time-consuming and more expensive than laser hair removal.
