There may be a time when you're searching for the perfect shade of Army olive green but can't seem to find it anywhere. Instead of settling for a color that's not what you like, consider dying your clothing to create that exact color. With all-purpose acid dyes, you can dye your clothing easily at home and mix dyes together to create new colors. For best results, always use 100 percent cotton clothing that is white.

Soak the clothing you want to dye under hot water. You will retrieve them once you're ready to dye them.

Purchase two shades of liquid acid dyes. One shade should be dark, true green and the other should be lemon yellow. Purchase all-purpose acid dyes from any local arts and craft store.

Pour 1 tsp. of the dark green acid dye into a small bowl. Add 1 tbsp. of lemon yellow acid dye to the bowl. Mix with 1 cup of hot water.

Fill your washing machine up with the hottest water possible. Set your washing machine on "Extended Time" if possible. Ideally, you'll want your clothing to be submerged in the dye for 30 minutes or more.

Add the liquid dyes to the washing machine. Place the clothing into the washing machine.

Remove the clothes from the washing machine when the cycle finishes. Rinse the clothing under warm water. Once the water starts to run clear, rinse them under cool water for two minutes.

Hang the clothing to dry if they are not preshrunk items, or place the clothing into the dryer to dry.
