If you wear your diamond rings daily, everyday dirt and buildup from body oils, soap and hand cream can cloud your stones. To keep your diamond rings clean and pristine, you don't have to take them to the neighborhood jeweler or buy a pricey at-home jewelry cleaner for a thorough cleaning. Using a mildly abrasive grooming product, you can clean your precious stone at home, easily and safely.
Step 1
Fill a small bowl with warm water and mild liquid detergent. Let the ring soak for 10 minutes or less.
Step 2
Dip an old toothbrush into the soapy water and scrub the ring. Clean the underside of the stone and in between the setting to remove dirt and body oils.
Step 3
Squeeze a pea-size amount of toothpaste on an old toothbrush. Apply the toothpaste to the diamond only. Brush the stone to add polish and shine to the diamond.
Step 4
Rinse the toothbrush under a stream of warm water to rid the brush of toothpaste. Brush the top and sides of the stone with warm water only to remove any small toothpaste particles.
Step 5
Drop the ring in a small bowl filled with warm water to rinse. Let the ring soak for three to four minutes.
Step 6
Dry off your ring with a baby diaper, old cotton handkerchief or a lint-free cloth.
