When it comes to comfort and versatility, it's tough to top a pair of leggings. Whether you wear them with a long sweater, cute dress or sexy tunic tank, you can find a look that works for many occasions. It is just as hard to go wrong with the footwear you pair with them -- leggings work with a variety of shoe styles. Switch up your footwear to transition your outfit from daytime errands to nighttime fun.

Versatile Boots

Leggings and boots are a made-for-each-other combination; the slim-fit leggings don’t bunch up when you tuck them inside boots. In most cases, flat knee-high or calf boots work best with leggings for a chic, casual look. Pair them with a boyfriend sweater or cardigan when you’re running errands or going shopping. Wear tall boots and leggings with a dress or skirt when want a little extra coverage in the fall and winter. When an occasion calls for heeled boots, ankle booties are good options with leggings. Wear them with an oversized button-down blouse that’s belted and a bold statement necklace for a look that works well for a casual night out with the girls.

Casual Flats

Combine leggings with casual, comfortable flats. Try a flirty, feminine look with a pair of ballet flats that feature bow details or go bold with flats in a bright color like red or magenta. Patterned flats, like animal print and polka dot styles, spice up a pair of neutral black leggings. Wear the flats with your favorite summer dress and use the leggings and a cardigan or blazer to transition the look for fall and winter. On dressy occasions, pair black leggings with luxurious suede or velvet flats. Wear the combination with a tunic-style top for a comfortable, sophisticated look.

Sexy Heels

Heels can work with leggings when you want to dress them up, but it is a tricky look to pull off. Choose low, modest heels that have an elegant feel to create a sophisticated outfit. Kitten heels are dressy enough to spruce up casual bottoms, and they have a chic, understated look. Pair your leggings and kitten heels with a sequin tunic tank for an evening out, or wear the combination with a wrap dress and strand of pearls for a polished look for the office.

Summer Sandals

In summer, staying cool is a priority, so pair your favorite leggings with sandals. As with boots, flat sandal styles typically work best with leggings -- gladiator sandals work especially well. Wear the combination with a long, linen tank or a short eyelet sundress. When it is time for an evening out, opt for a pair of metallic or beaded gladiator sandals to give your outfit a little more pizazz.
