What to Wear With a Lace Blazer

A blazer is a tried-and-true wardrobe staple; but if you're tired of the usual tailored styles that make you think of stiff business suits, a lace blazer can be an ideal change of pace. Team it with both casual and dressy pieces from your closet depending on where you're headed and expect to turn a few heads.

Casual and Relaxed

While a lace blazer definitely has a standout look, that doesn’t mean you can’t dress it down as part of a casual outfit. During the day, opt for a taupe or tan lace blazer and layer it over a white V-neck T-shirt, boot-cut jeans and brown suede ankle boots. Or try your lace blazer with a casual skirt -- pair a dusty rose blazer with an A-line denim skirt and ballet flats for a polished, low-key vibe. When you’re going out for the evening, create a sexy, flirty outfit with a black lace blazer, a silky white or gray camisole, dark-wash skinny jeans and black peep-toe pumps.

Office Chic

You may not think of a lace blazer as office wear, but an opaque style can be a feminine option for work if you choose one in a light neutral shade like beige, tan or gray. Button it over a classic white oxford style blouse and a black pencil skirt for a professional ensemble. Add black pumps and simple pearl stud earrings to complete your outfit. Or mix things up and team the blazer with a pair of trousers -- soften the look of menswear-inspired gray and black pinstripe trousers with a gray lace blazer, a white silk shell and a pair of pointy toe black pumps.

Edgy and Modern

A lace blazer has a decidedly girly vibe, so combining it with edgy separates creates a striking contrast. Try wearing your jacket with leather pieces for a mixture of sweet and tough. Go for a sexy monochromatic look by wearing a sheer black lace blazer over a black tank top and black leather pants. Add strappy black stilettos to tie the outfit together. You can also create a bold color contrast by pairing a sheer white lace blazer over a black camisole and a black leather pencil skirt. Throw on a pair of studded black ankle boots and you’re ready for a night out.

Cocktail Elegance

If you’re headed to a cocktail party or other event where you want to dress to impress, a lace blazer is an ideal layering piece for dressier looks. Wear a navy lace blazer over a blue velvet tube dress and pair the combo with nude pumps for an elegant ensemble. Or go with a white lace blazer and wear it over a red satin corset top and pencil skirt for some bombshell style. Finish the look off with red peep-toe heels to make a serious style statement.
