
Whether you have a major stain or your white pants have developed more of a dull, eggshell color, your can restore your once white pants to their former blazing white glory. While bleach is hazardous to colored clothing, it is the best friend to dull, stained white clothing. Simply add bleach and detergent to your washing machine and throw the pants in. With the right amount of bleach, detergent and water temperature, you'll be showing of those brilliant white pants in no time.
Pre-soak the pants in a bucket filled with 1 gallon of cool water and 1/4 cup bleach for five minutes.
Turn the washing machine on for warm to hot water. Check the clothing care label first, however, as some white fabrics need to be washed in cold water.
Add a capful of your usual laundry detergent to the water as it is filling the machine.
Add about 3/4 cup of chlorine bleach to the washing machine while the machine continues to fill up.
Add the soaking white pants to the washing machine and close the lid.
Dry the pants according to the clothing care label, either in the dryer or by laying them out to air dry.
