Vinegar is a liquid made from fermented wine that has been used for culinary and medicinal purposes since ancient times, according to the Vinegar Institute website. Vinegar comes in many varieties, including plain white and apple cider. You can find several types of vinegar for sale at your local grocery store. Vinegar is handy for cooking, and you can also use vinegar when cleaning your house or treating various uncomfortable foot conditions.

Kills Fungus

Vinegar may kill fungus on your toes. To get stubborn toenail fungus off of your feet, soak your feet in a one-to-one mixture of vinegar and water. Keep your toes in the diluted vinegar for 10 to 20 minutes and repeat the treatment once or twice daily for maximum benefit. Vinegar can relieve the burning associated with foot and toenail fungus, including athlete's foot.

Relieves Itching

Vinegar may relieve itching anywhere on your body, including your toes. Make a paste using vinegar and cornstarch and apply the mixture to your itchy toes. Keep the paste in place until you experience relief. Vinegar can relieve itching caused by a number of factors, including athlete's foot, poison ivy and hives. You can also soak itchy toes in warm water with two tbsp. of vinegar added to relieve redness and irritation.

Soften Calluses

A soak using vinegar will soften rough calluses caused by dead skin on your toes. Using plain distilled white vinegar, pour one cup vinegar into two gallons warm water. Soak your feet in the vinegar and water mixture for 45 minutes, then use a pumice stone to easily remove rough, dead skin from your toes. For stubborn calluses and corns on your toes, you may soak a piece of stale bread in vinegar, then taping the bread over your callus or corn using medical tape. Leave the bread in place overnight and repeat nightly until your corns and calluses are gone.

Remove Warts

You can use apple cider vinegar to remove unsightly warts on your toes. Just soak your feet in a bucket of warm water for 20 minutes and dry your toes completely. Using a cotton pad, apply apple cider vinegar directly to your warts. Leave the vinegar in place for 10 minutes, then rinse your toes. You can also soak your entire foot in a tub of apple cider vinegar daily after bathing to remove warts from your toes.
