Coconut oil is extracted from the kernel or meat of a ripened coconut. It is a highly nutritious food that contains healthy fats, such as lauric acid, a fatty acid that is helpful in fighting off a variety of infections. Coconut oil is not only a nutritional supplement; it provides many skin care benefits. In particular, it is a highly effective moisturizing makeup remover that is an all-natural alternative to chemically based skin care products.

Step 1

Squirt a small amount of the coconut oil onto your fingertips.

Step 2

Rub the oil onto your face, moving your fingertips in small circular motions.

Step 3

Splash warm water onto your face after you have adequately coated it with coconut oil. Keep wetting your face until you have rinsed off the oil.

Step 4

Pat your face dry with a soft washcloth.

Tips

  • Coconut oil also works as an eye makeup remover. Pour some coconut oil onto a cotton ball, and swipe it across your eyes. Additionally, you can rub coconut oil on your skin as a moisturizer.
