If you have more pork on hand than you can use right away, it's a good idea to freeze what you can't use so you can store it for later. Frozen foods can last for months, but even frozen foods won't keep indefinitely.

Frozen Cooked Pork

Cooked pork in the form of leftovers will keep in the freezer for about three months. Leftovers should be well-wrapped before storing.

Pre-cooked pork products may be stored in a deep freezer for up to 10 months, or in a regular freezer for two to three months.

Frozen Uncooked Pork

Uncooked frozen pork can be stored in the freezer for three to six months, but the temperature must remain at 0 degrees or below. To store uncooked pork, use coated freezer paper, heavy-duty foil, polyethylene film or freezer bags.

Pork Storage Tips

Press as much air out of the package as possible when storing pork to prevent freezer burn. It's also a good idea to label and date the pork so you can remember how long the pork has been in the freezer. According to the USDA, it's safe to refreeze thawed pork if you need to, but the moisture loss may cause the pork to lose flavor.
