You can purchase a variety of yoplait yogurt types and flavors at nearly any grocery store. Yoplait’s product line includes both regular and light yogurts, kids’ yogurts and smoothies. Each of the types comes in fruity flavors, and the Delight comes in dessert flavors. You can get Yoplait yogurts in 4-ounce and 6-ounce servings and smoothies in 7.6-ounce packs. The kids’ yogurts and Go-gurts come in smaller 2.25-ounce and 3.25-ounce sizes.
Calcium and Vitamin D
All Yoplait yogurt has calcium and vitamin D to help build and maintain bone mass. The amount in each type of yogurt varies, but all varieties have at least 100 mg of calcium and 50 percent of your daily value of vitamin D in each serving. Yoplait Original contains 500 mg of calcium and 20 percent of your daily vitamin D needs. You get 100 mg of calcium and 15 percent of your daily vitamin D from Yoplait Fiber One.
Yoplait yogurts contain a blend of prebiotics and probiotics that are designed to help the digestive system. Acidoliphilus and bifidus are bacteria strains common to yogurt, but Yoplait also includes a probiotic known as Bifidobacterium, or Bb-12. Yoplait Plus contains at least one billion Bb-12 that are active to form colonies. This type of Yoplait yogurt also contains 3 grams of inulin, a prebiotic fiber that acts as a catalyst for Bb-12 in the digestive tract.
Protein is necessary for your bones and muscles, and it’s an effective way to help curb your hunger. Most Yoplait yogurt contains 10 grams of protein. The kids’ yogurts such as Go-gurt and Trix have 4 grams of protein in them. For even more protein, you can try Yoplait Greek, which has 14 to 17 grams of protein in each 6-ounce serving. The other types of Yoplait yogurt have between 4 and 9 grams of protein.
Fiber is an important part of your diet; it helps lower cholesterol and aids in natural digestion. With each serving of Yoplait Fiber One, you'll get 5 grams of fiber, equal to 20 percent of your daily fiber intake. Fiber One contains 5 grams of inulin, more than other types of Yoplait. Most types of Yoplait yogurt contain 3 grams of inulin as a prebiotic, but it's also a soluble fiber found in certain types of seeds.
