Purses in basic neutral shades like black, brown and beige might be more ubiquitous in your closet, but a yellow statement bag is as fashionable as it is functional. Whichever style of purse you choose, maximize your yellow bag’s style potential by pairing it with everything from eye-catching brights to understated neutrals.

Color Combos

Use a bright yellow purse for either a cool colorblock effect or to bring out a color in a printed outfit. For instance, wear a flared skirt in a vivid hue like red, aqua or purple with a simple white tank top and neutral wedges. Add a yellow hobo bag and a graphic scarf that incorporates both bright colors to tie the look together. You can also rock a printed sundress -- think a hot pink-, yellow-and-black floral pattern -- and carry a citron clutch to bring out the yellow in the print.

Neutrals and Denim

Allow yellow to give some color to neutrals. Pair dark wash skinny jeans, a white boyfriend tee and tan ballet flats with a canary-yellow oversize tote bag to add interest to your look. Or rock a little black dress with black ankle booties and carry a yellow envelope clutch. The solid black is an ideal backdrop for your bright handbag; add a gold-and-yellow statement necklace to finish the ensemble.
