Glycerin, also called glycerol, is a thick, syrupy liquid that has no color or odor. Glycerin is often used as an ingredient in body wash and soap because it has moisturizing properties and is an effective solvent in water and alcohol. Whether used alone or combined with other ingredients, glycerin softens skin and attracts moisture from the air. Pure glycerin soap can be used as the base for homemade glycerin body wash or liquid glycerin can be combined with a variety of other ingredients to make a natural homemade body wash.
Body Wash from Glycerin Soap Base
Grate a bar of pure glycerin soap base using a food grater into a blender.
Pour 1 cup of boiling hot water into the blender, then press "liquefy" to blend the ingredients thoroughly for about two minutes.
Add a 1/2 cup of room temperature spring or distilled water to the blender, then press "stir" for about one minute.
Pour 1 tbsp. each of pure liquid glycerin and pure honey into the blender, then press "puree" for about two minutes.
Allow the mixture to cool in the blender for about 10 to 15 minutes, then press "stir" for about a minute.
Add another cup of room temperature spring or distilled water to the blender, then press "stir" for another minute. Check the consistency of the body wash. Add more water and "stir," if desired.
Pour body wash into plastic bottles and allow to cool without a lid.
Replace the lid after an hour and shake thoroughly. Allow body wash to thicken for about an hour before using.
Body Wash from Liquid Glycerin
