Celebrating a Summer Birthday: 5 Ways to Style a Fresh and Festive Tablescape

Summer birthdays present the perfect opportunity to entertain friends and family around a pretty party tablescape. Whether you’re celebrating a 1st birthday or a 101st, you should celebrate it in style. Create a party table that makes memories for the special occasion.

It actually isn’t that difficult to set up a birthday party tablescape that would make even Martha Stewart proud. So tap into your inner hostess for styling a sweet summer birthday party.

The key to a cohesive tablescape is picking dominant and accent colors to really highlight the design. Here I have green and aqua as my dominant colors with touches of white and metallics for accent. Avoid too many colors which will give a cluttered look to your party. Color can be a beautiful theme in itself when you keep it coordinated!

1. Jazz Up a Store-Bought Cake
Visit the bakery counter of your favorite grocery store and ask for a plain white-frosted cake. Decorate with tall taper candles in your party colors. This is an instant time-saver when you’re already busy getting the party ready. You can also adorn your cake with ribbon, candies, fruit or other cake toppers.

2. Keep It Colorful: Summers + Birthdays = Color!
Choose bright and festive colors, such as neons (all the rage). I chose a neon green and aqua color scheme with lots of white to make it pop. Sometimes all you need are fun party hats and horns to get your color scheme started. I also added in some silver for an extra touch of metallic.

3. Feature Your Fancy Pieces
Don’t be afraid to break out the “good glasses” and silverware. Even when paired with paper partyware, using the “good stuff” gives a sense of specialness that is perfect for a celebration.

4. Use Festive Plates and Dishes
Be on the lookout at home goods stores for cute dishes that can be used for celebrations year-round. I loved these polka dot plates from Rosanna Inc. If you don’t have the perfect matching plates, then always go with plain white. Your party colors will still pop!

5. Add Pretty Party Favors
Last but not least, party favors! Everybody loves a little something to take home. Even if it’s just simple candies or other small token, wrap up a little gift in pretty paper to make your guests feel super special.
