Stretch marks develop when your skin expands quickly, such as during the fast growth that occurs in your teenage years or with pregnancy. Rapid weight gain and certain diseases may also cause the reddish-brown bands to appear on your abdomen, torso, breasts and buttocks. No home remedy, including egg whites, has been proven to eliminate stretch marks reports the University of Maryland Medical Center.
Stretch marks fade over time to a silvery or white shade. In some cases, after the period of rapid growth ends, the stretch marks fade altogether. If a solution as simple as egg whites worked to rid you of stretch marks, the dozens of creams and lotions as well as laser treatments that claim to remove the stretch marks wouldn't exist. Registered nurse Jodi Sawyer notes that stretch marks are a type of scar, and that getting rid of them completely is just not possible in most cases.
