You may have heard that most men crave respect, and while you would love to show your husband the respect he desires, you are probably unsure of the best way to do this. In a national survey conducted by Decision Analysts, Inc., 81.5 percent of men stated that in the middle of a marital conflict, they felt disrespected rather than unloved. If your husband continues to tell you that he feels disrespected in your relationship, you are most likely desperate for a fast solution. There are several simple and unexpected ways to show your husband you respect him, and enjoy a more fulfilling relationship in return.

Bring Out the Best in Him

Bring out the best in your husband in order to leave him feeling respected instead of belittled. Although your husband has made many mistakes, you will make him feel like a good husband by highlighting his favorable qualities. Do not give him a guilt trip when he does something you do not approve of or manipulate him when he hurts your feelings. Instead, give him the benefit of the doubt in every situation.

Stop the Negative Cycle

If you feel unloved, you may start an argument with your husband, who may feel disrespected by your attempts to communicate. You should recognize that the negative reactions from both of you are rooted in your own unique struggles, according to Dr. Emerson Eggerichs, author of "Love and Respect: The Love She Most Desires, the Respect He Desperately Needs." By understanding that you both have your own challenges when it comes to the way you perceive your arguments, you will stop the negative cycle that defines your interactions.

Ask for His Advice

Instead of trying to figure out your own solutions to a challenging problem, find your husband and ask him for his opinion on the matter. By involving him in your decisions, you are demonstrating the fact that you respect his decision-making skills, according to Dr. Gary Smalley, author of "Hidden Keys of a Loving, Lasting Marriage." He will feel authoritative and trusted when you seek his approval about something that is very important to you.

Express Appreciation

Let your man know that you appreciate who he is and what he does, with both your words and your actions. Studies have shown that verbal communication accounts for only 7 percent of communication, according to Smalley. Start by considering your tone of voice and your posture when you communicate with your husband. If you have taken all of these things into consideration, use positive words to encourage your husband and make him feel respected.
