If you want to feel like a princess on your special day, consider having a Disneyland wedding. Before you dismiss the possibility as being out of your budget, however, know that you could be exchanging vows with your own Prince Charming at Disneyland for as little as $5,000, at the time of publication.
Disney Magic on a Budget
If you have a tight budget but dream of a Disneyland wedding, the Escape package allows you to have your ceremony and 2-hour reception for up to 18 guests in one of four locations, such as The Wedding Garden or the Adventure Lawn Gazebo. You receive basic wedding elements: a floral bouquet, a boutonniere for the groom, a wedding cake, a keepsake cake topper, a bottle of champagne, a three-course meal and a wedding coordinator. Pay an additional fee to have Disney characters watch as you and your new spouse cut the cake during the reception. At the time of publication, the Escape package costs $5,000 if you also book a five-night stay at one of the resort hotels.
Pricey Packages With More Options
In 2013, the average wedding cost $30,000. The Disneyland Wishes wedding packages start at less than half that amount and offer a wholly customizable experience that will make your special day magical. Unlike the Escape package, Wishes wedding packages do not include set elements; instead, you and your Disney-appointed wedding coordinator choose all of the wedding services you want, including food, decor, floral arrangements and entertainment. However, at the time of publication, you had to spend at least $12,000 on these services and invite a minimum of 20 guests. Also, you will need to book rooms at the resort to qualify for the lowest minimum purchase requirement.
Sleeping Beauty Experience
For the bride who wants the full royal wedding experience, the Sleeping Beauty option is an ideal choice. You arrive at the ceremony in Cinderella’s Crystal Coach like a princess and say “I do” to your groom on the drawbridge of Sleeping Beauty’s castle in the heart of the Disneyland Park. After the ceremony, your guests can enjoy a pre-reception at the King Arthur Carousel with drinks and appetizers followed by a meal served at one of the resort hotels or at the Small World Mall. This package’s price also includes wedding cake, a DJ, dance floor, and chocolate wedding favors plus a one-night stay at a Disneyland Resort hotel. Because the ceremony takes place in the actual park, the event can only occur before the park opens or after it closes. Also, Sleeping Beauty’s castle cannot be used for your dream wedding during the peak season or on weekends. However, if your wedding date and time match the castle’s availability, you can enjoy the experience in the morning with up to 50 guests for only $25,000 or in the evening, with between 100 and 300 guests for $120,000, at the time of publication.
Time Issues and Pricing
As you plan your Disneyland wedding, be aware that packages may not allow you to get married on certain days or you may be charged more if you choose a weekend for your ceremony, for example. Weddings through the Escape package can only be performed Monday through Thursday. Wishes collection weddings are available any day of the week, but the prices are higher on the weekends. At the time of publication, the minimum you are required to spend for a Friday or Sunday wedding is $15,000, while a Saturday event requires you to purchase at least $18,000 in Disney wedding services.
