How to Get Softer Lips Using a Toothbrush

by Candice Mancini

You don't need surgery or expensive beauty products to get softer, fuller lips. With a soft kid's toothbrush and a dab of coconut oil, your lips will feel sumptuous. If you don't have coconut oil, substitute olive oil, sugar water, petroleum jelly or your favorite lip balm. However, investing in a container of coconut oil could reap many rewards; in addition to softening lips, it is healthy for the hair and skin.

Apply a generous amount of coconut oil to your lips. If your lips are especially dry or chapped, allow the oil to soak into your lips for five minutes.

Dampen a child's soft toothbrush and gently "brush" your lips in small, circular motions for several minutes.

Run a soft washcloth under warm water. Use it to remove dead skin flakes from your lips, then pat your lips with a dry towel.

Coat your lips with additional coconut oil. For optimal softness and healing effects, brush your lips once a week. Apply plenty of coconut oil between procedures.

Items you will need

  • Child's soft toothbrush
  • Coconut oil
  • Soft washcloth
  • Soft towel

  • Use a clean toothbrush, because a dirty one can leave bacteria behind.
