Ideas for a Birthday in Dallas, Texas

by Matthew Michael

Birthdays are always special occasions and those living in the Dallas, Texas area have many options when planning a birthday party. When planning a Dallas party, think about what the guest of honor enjoys and tailor the day around that. No matter what the birthday person likes, you can plan a fun party in Dallas.

Sporting Events

Dallas is one of the few cities that has four major professional sports teams, each of which provides special birthday packages for the sports fan in your life. The Texas Rangers (texas.rangers.mlb.com), Dallas Stars (stars.nhl.com), Dallas Cowboys (dallascowboys.com) and Dallas Mavericks (nba.com/mavericks) all have different packages that allow birthday groups to buy tickets together, along with food and drink vouchers. Some venues even put the name of the birthday boy or girl on the big screen. These sporting event parties are great for both kids and adults alike.

Beer Tasting

If the guest of honor loves barley and hops, consider planning a party around tasting many fine beers. The Flying Saucer in nearby Fort Worth (beerknurd.com) has hundreds of beers available and can hold parties for large or small groups. The Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. (rahrbrewing.com), also in Fort Worth, offers brewery tours every Wednesday and Saturday for anyone who wants to see how beer is made. This option can be especially popular for 21st birthday parties.

Indoor Amusements

Take your birthday group to an indoor amusement center. Dave and Busters (daveandbusters.com), an arcade and restaurant, offers activities and games for adults and kids with two locations in Dallas -- on Composite Drive and Walnut Hill Drive. You can organize a party, or just show up with a group, whichever is easier. Main Event Entertainment (maineventusa.com), which has four locations in the Dallas area, offers bowling, billiards and arcade games for kids or adults.

Outdoor Amusements

If the weather is nice, consider taking your party outside. Six Flags Over Texas (sixflags.com/overTexas), located in nearby Arlington, has roller coasters, midway games and even a water park. The amusement park offers group discounts if your party has more than 10 guests. For paintball enthusiasts, Xdrenaline Zone (xdrenalinzone.com) has two parks available for your party. Join an open game or play amongst yourselves for a fun day.
