A Columbia rain jacket is one of the most durable waterproof clothing items you can own, lasting through season after season of rain. Some rain jacket owners forget that these long-wearing jackets still need to be washed, and that doing so can actually help the rain jacket endure even longer. Since these jackets aren’t your everyday T-shirt and jeans, the question of just how to wash them arises.
Read the tag with care instructions on the inside of the jacket, as different Columbia rain jackets can be made from slightly different materials, and specific instructions may vary.
Place detergent in a washing machine and put the jacket in afterwards, along with other clothes if needed.
Close the machine’s lid and set the temperature to cold, then switch the washing machine on.
Remove the jacket from the washing machine after the cycle has finished, and either hang dry or tumble dry on a low setting.
Repeat the above steps at least a few times per year to keep your rain jacket in top condition.
Do not wash your rain jacket in a large load of laundry if it is in need of a deep cleaning.
