Whether you're looking to permanently remove your nose ring for a change in style or just plan on switching to a new one, it is important to know exactly how to remove it. Without the proper care and removal, you could risk infection, bleeding and even tearing the hole. Read on to find out exactly what you need to do to remove your nose ring safely.
Begin with clean, dry hands and a clean face that is free of any makeup or lotions. Make sure you're in a well-lit area with room to move around.
Use a cotton swab to clean the hole and ring with rubbing alcohol before touching with your hands or tweezers.
Place your tweezers gently on the edge of the nose stud. Press your nostril against your nose as you pull out the ring slowly and steadily.
Stabilize the ball with your fingertips and unscrew the removable ball. Depending on how it was inserted, you may be moving in a direction toward your eye, so be sure not to poke yourself.
Tilt your head back and take the ends of the ring into your fingers. Gently pull the ball, release the end of the bar, and slide the bar through the hole and out of your nose.
Finding the right angle can be tricky at first. If you're not fully confident in what you're doing, ask a friend for help.
Be patient. Don't jerk or pull too hard, or you'll risk bleeding and bruising.
If you think your nose ring is infected, do not remove it. Ask your doctor for help to prevent any further damage.
