How to Smell Good

Body odor can be offensive and embarrassing. Avoid the humiliation by taking steps to smell good. Body odor is caused by the bacteria that collect after you sweat. Bad breath can add to the malodorous mix. Good grooming and laundry habits can cut down on the chance of potentially awkward situations when someone sniffs and says "What's that smell?"

Take a shower at least once a day, especially after exercise. Use soap or body wash and scrub yourself clean. Shave your underarms so smelly bacteria will not collect in the hair there.

Use a deodorant or antiperspirant right after bathing. Deodorants cover body odor, while antiperspirants stop you from sweating. Formulas that contain both are available and cover all the bases.

Brush and floss your teeth twice a day to avoid bad breath.

Launder your clothes regularly to wash out bacteria that cause odor.

Avoid eating a lot of foods with pungent flavors and odors, such as garlic or curry. Too much of these spices can allow the smell to seep through your pores, causing odors.
