In 1895, a photo of a woman jumping out of Stanford White's cake appeared in a New York paper. White was an influential member of New York's upper class, and his cake tale gained even more attention because he was later shot by the husband of the woman who jumped from the cake. Since White's time, many bachelor parties and birthday parties have included giant cakes. Well meaning friends may sometimes jump out of the cakes in order to offer an extra surprise. If this something you want to do, here's how to do it.
Purchase a giant birthday cake. Cakes may be purchased from online sites such as Pop Out Cake or My Pop Cakes. Make arrangements for the cake to be delivered to the party site.
Before the cake is rolled out for the birthday boy, climb inside and make certain that the lid is secured. Depending on the size of the cake, you may need to crouch in order to conceal all of your body. Conversely, if the cake is too large, you may need to stand on a block in order to be seen well when you pop out.
Plan your popping out moment. You can coincide your revealing moment with a song of Happy Birthday. You can also choose to wait until the birthday girl makes a wish.
Push through the thin top of the cake to make your appearance. Or, if the cake has a top that opens, lift it up so that you are revealed to the party boy. Move quickly and be sure that you yell, "Surprise!" or "Happy birthday!" during your reveal.
