Not all of us are blessed with big soulful eyes. You may not need to call the plastic surgeon to widen your eyes. Makeup and grooming techniques can make your eyes appear bigger without the pain or expense of medical intervention.
Target those dark circles. Make sure you're getting plenty of sleep. Drink water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Use concealer underneath and in the corner of your eyes. When you apply concealer to the eye area, pat it on. Rubbing can damage the sensitive skin under your eye.
Moisturize your eyes. Eye creams made for eyes soften lines and lift the upper eyelids, making your eyes appear wider.
Shape your eyebrows. Thin out the brows and keep a slight arch over the brow bone to frame your eyes and lift their appearance. If your brows are sparse, opt for brow powder or cream to define your brow line more.
Apply a light shade of eyeshadow to the base of your eyelid and sweep it over the entire lid. Use a darker shade of shadow in the crease of your lid and blend slightly. For added lift and brightening, dust a little shimmer eyeshadow on your brow bone to make your eyes look bigger.
Apply a thin line of very light or white eyeliner as close to the lower lash line as you can. Use a light hand when working with white liner. Just under the white, apply a darker shade of eyeliner or apply the shadow you used on the creases of your eyelids as a liner.
Line your upper eyelid with eyeliner, or use the eyeshadow you used on the crease of your eyelids on the upper eyelid. Stay as close to your natural lash line as you can and soften the line with a cotton swab.
Dab a bit of highlighter or light eyeshadow in the corners of your eyes for instantly bigger eyes.
Always use an eyelash curler and mascara to make your eyes appear more defined.
Use eye drops if you have a problem with dry or red eyes. Red eyes automatically make your eyes look smaller. If you have chronic dry eyes, your optometrist can recommend eye drops.
