classic vodka martini
The classic vodka martini gained favor in the mid 1960s, with its apex of popularity in the '80s where it was king of martinis due to the mass appeal of vodka in the market. Also known as a kangaroo cocktail, this drink is made with a whisper of dry vermouth (also called French-style vermouth), shaken fast and finished with the delicate addition of a cocktail olive. A more subdued variation on the dry gin-style martini, this one will surely appeal to most with its neutral spirit at the forefront.
Making a Vodka Martini
Measure out the vodka and the dry vermouth, and pour them into an empty shaker. Add lots of ice, and shake hard and fast until the mixture is diluted and chilled. Strain into a chilled martini glass, and garnish with an olive.
