The perfect party hat can add fun and pizzazz to your outfit or party décor. Whether you are throwing a holiday party, a birthday party or want your guests to decorate their own, here are three different hats that can be customized to fit your party's theme.
Lace Birthday Crown

Cut a piece of lace
Measure and cut a piece of lace trim that fits around your head. You can play with the length to create larger or smaller crowns.

Cover lace with mod podge
Cover your work area with newspaper. Using the sponge brush, cover the lace with the decoupage glue and let it dry. Cover with another layer of glue and let it dry thoroughly.

Add another coat of mod podge and cover will gold glitter
Add another layer of decoupage glue. Sprinkle the glue with glitter. Once it is dry, shake of the excess.

Over lap the ends and hot glue together
Overlap the ends of the lace and hot glue them together. This will form the crown.
Holiday Hat

Trace and cut out cone
Print out the cone template. Using holiday patterned cardstock paper, trace and cut out the cone.

Hot glue the cone together
Fold the edge and hot glue the cone together. Make sure to leave a little hole at the top.

Mold pipe cleaners into a cone topper
Using a pipe cleaners, create a topper for the cone. Some ideas for toppers are a star, heart, squiggles, triangle or even a snowman. Leave a couple inches of pipe cleaner at the bottom of the design so it can be attached to the cone.

Attach topper and punch 2 holes
Insert the tail of the topper into the hole at the top of the cone. Hot glue it in place. Punch two holes on opposite sides about 1/2 inch from the bottom edge of the hat.

Tie elastic to each hole and glue on holiday garland
Measure the elastic to fit your head so the hat fits securely. Cut the elastic and tie one end to each hole. Hot glue the holiday garland around the bottom edge of the cone.

Add your favorite holiday saying
Use puff paint to decorate with favorite holiday sayings or designs.
Chalkboard Cone

Paint cardstock paper with chalkboard paint
Paint the cardstock paper with three coats of chalkboard paint. Allow the paint to dry between each coat.

Trace and cut out cone
Print out the cone template. Trace the cone on the backside of the cardstock and cut out the cone.

Hot glue the cone together
Fold edge and start to round the paper to create a cone shape. Hot glue the edges to keep the cone together.

Punch hole and attach elastic
Punch a hole on opposite sides about 1/2 inch above the bottom edge. Measure the elastic to fit your head so the hat fits securely. Cut the elastic and tie each end to a hole.

Use chalk to decorate
Use chalk to decorate the cone. The hats are blank, so you can decorate the hat for any occasion.

Changeable hats
The hats are chalkboards, so you can change or erase designs as you please throughout the night.
