How to Firm Up Face Muscles

As people age their facial muscles begin to sag. This drooping is caused by a lack of collagen and the effects of gravity on the skin. Many choose to correct this issue with plastic surgery, which is a dangerous and expensive option. A more cost effective method that can be done in the privacy of your own home is facial muscle exercises. These exercises are performed in front of the mirror for a few minutes a day to tighten and tone the muscles of the face, which will give it a more youthful appearance.

Jawline Firming

Place your hands on each side of your face on the line from the outer nostril area to the corner of the mouth.

Smile widely enough to show both your bottom and lower teeth.

Push up gently into the folds that are created with the smile.

Repeat this process for five to ten additional repetitions every day.

Forehead Exercise

Place both index fingers just above each eye.

Pull down gently on each eye while smiling widely and raising each eyebrow.

Hold this position for five seconds and relax. This is one repetition.

Repeat this process for five repetitions every day.

Eye Exercise

Standing or sitting down, close your eyes and relax your facial muscles.

Look down as far as you can and hold the position for two seconds.

Repeat this process for ten repetitions every day.
