Growing a mustache is a great way to express yourself. A mustache can be long, thin or handlebar, and be fashioned in a number of ways. If not cared for properly, a mustache can become bushy and uneven, and detract from your looks. A mustache must be cleaned often to keep it from becoming dirty as a result of liquids and food particles.

Comb your mustache straight down. Make sure that all of the hair is pointing in the same direction. Use hair cutting scissors to trim your mustache to the desired length. Comb the hair straight down again and make sure all of the hair is the same length.

Wash the mustache with a gentle shampoo. Rub a pea-sized amount of shampoo into the mustache, then rinse it out with water. Comb the mustache into place. Do this at least three to four times per week.

Run a dab of mustache styling cream through the mustache. This cream keeps the mustache from looking unruly, and keeps it shiny and healthy. Run a comb through the mustache. Do this at least every other day.

Apply a mustache wax to shape the mustache. This is especially helpful if you have a long mustache, a handlebar mustache or a mustache that is curled on each side. Run your fingers over the top of the wax. Smooth the wax on your mustache where necessary and mold your mustache

  • Stand in a well-lit room in front of a mirror when trimming your mustache.
