As people age, the skin on the face begins to lose its elasticity and firmness, which causes it to sag and slump. Gravity, smoking and weight loss can also play a role in the loss of skin tone. One way to help rebuild muscle tone in the face is through the use of facial exercises. These exercises will target particular facial muscles and help give one a more youthful, energetic appearance.
Cheek, Jowls and Chin Exercise
Tilt your head backwards. Your eyes should be pointed toward the ceiling.
Place your tongue against the roof of your mouth and swallow.
Turn your head slightly to the left and swallow, all the while continuing to hold your tongue against the roof of your mouth.
Turn your head to the right and swallow.
Repeat this process four times at each position: head held straight, head held to the left and head held to the right.
Place your index finger on the center bottom of the forehead just above the eyes. This is also the spot where the nose ends and the forehead begins.
Pull down on your finger while at the same time raising your eyebrows.
Repeat this motion ten times.
Close your eyes in a relaxed and loose manner.
Keeping your eyes closed, look down as far as your eyes will allow.
Look up as far as your eyes will allow, all the while keeping your eyes comfortably closed.
Repeat each motion fifteen times.
